Super Structures Associates (SSA) had the absolute pleasure of working with interior designer Ana Engelhorn on her own period property in Surrey in which Ana undertook a total renovation project.
During our site visit to this magnificent property, we met Ana and her Project Manager, Julie Suttle, to discuss the exciting modifications Ana was planning to make and how, as her ingenious structural engineers, we could assist her by cleverly altering the structure to achieve these visions.
Our main focus was to design two frames; one for the main room overlooking the garden which allowed the low ceiling to be raised to a vaulted ceiling; and similarly in the master bedroom our steelwork model permitted the ceiling to be vaulted with cross-ties to open up the space. We then drew plans to remove posts and install a steel beam in the second floor bedroom to improve the usable space.
It has been an interesting and challenging project to be involved in and SSA very much looks forward to working with Ana and Julie on future developments.
