What do I need to prepare for the upcoming site visit?

We may require additional information and guidance from you about your overall project aim so, we have listed below some potential questions for you to consider.  Please do not worry if you do not have answers for all of them, this is just to ensure we cover all aspects of your proposed works.

  1. Do you have any electronic drawings which you can provide us with e.g. DWG?
  2. Do you have access into the loft roof space and is there a ladder to gain access? If there is not, this is not a problem, as we can bring our own ladder if required.
  3. Are you thinking of completing a loft conversion or any other structural work in the future that is not shown on the drawings?
  4. Have you had any structural work completed in the past? If so, do you have any architectural and structural drawings and calculations, as this will be useful. PDF format would be preferable, but paper form would be fine.
  5. Have you noticed any cracks or settlement issues in the past?
  6. Have you received approval from the planners, building control, Thames Water, neighbours etc. for the proposed works?
  7. Is there a limit on the headroom required?
  8. What is your approximate budget for the proposed work?
  9. Are you retaining any structure e.g. foundation, walls, windows etc.?
  10. Is the property occupied during the construction work?
